Join Elizabeth's Bookshop and author Marilyn Sanders Mobley for the launch of her new book, Toni Morrison and the Geopoetics of Place, Race, and Be/Longing

Dr. Mobley will discuss her new book with Carla Davis, founder of CJ Davis Enterprises LLC.

About the Author:

MARILYN SANDERS MOBLEY is Emerita Professor of English and African American Studies at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She is the author of Folk Roots and Mythic Wings in Sarah Orne Jewett and Toni Morrison: The Cultural Function of Narrative and a spiritual memoir, The Strawberry Room, and Other Places Where a Woman Finds Herself.

About the Moderator:

CARLA DAVIS founded CJ Davis Enterprises LLC, encompassing Carla Davis Communications and Carla Davis Music as business ventures. As the Marketing Communications Director Emerita for the Akron-Summit County Public Library, she has left an indelible mark on the field. Her professional affiliations include the Akron Press Club, where she serves as Immediate Past President and board member. Additionally, Carla played a pivotal role in The City of Akron Racial Equity and Social Justice Task Force as the Communications Subcommittee Chair. Her contributions extend to the American Advertising Federation, Akron Chapter, where she received the Silver Medal Lifetime Achievement Award. She has also been a panelist and presenter for the Public Relations Society of America, Akron Chapter. Carla Davis is an alumna of the University of Akron and Ashland Theological Seminary. She holds a Bachelor’s in Communications and a Master’s in Clinical Counseling. She serves on several boards, including the Akron Press Club, Cleveland Clinic Akron General Community Advisory Council, Leadership Akron, ATHENA Akron, the Haven of Rest Mission, and Malone College Core Curriculum Task Force. She received the Judge Brenda Burnham Unruh Servant Leader Award from Love Akron and was honored with the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Akron. As a member of the NAACP Akron Chapter, Carla continues to champion social justice and community empowerment.
